Create a Drop-Down List in Google Sheets in 5 Easy Steps

Drop-down menus are HUGE timesavers for a million different reasons! Collecting t-shirt sizes? Creating a schedule? Taking a lunch order? Organizing an event? Drop-down menus make all of those tasks much easier- especially if you need to sort and filter them later!

Here’s how you do it:

  1. Click on the cell you’d like to have the drop-down menu.
  2. Click “Data” in the top menu bar

3. Click “Data Validation”

4. Change the “Criteria” to “List of items” and type in your options (separate by comma)

5. Click “Save” and you’re done!

If you want the same drop-down to continue to other cells, just click the blue square and drag down until you’ve selected all cells you’d like the drop-down.
